{True} Contentment

Contentment.
"The experience of satisfaction and being at ease in one's situation."
{according to Wikipedia}

One of many life lessons.
I think it's safe to say that learning to be content in all things is a continuous life lesson for me.

I had to learn to be content in infertility, sleepless nights when our babies were born, a {forever} changed body, changing churches, losing a loved one, moving, family, leaving church ministry.....

As the seasons change, the need to be content in uncertainty remains the same.  The only thing that changes are the circumstances in which lie the need to be content.

Our lingering issue weighs heavy on my mind, but no longer on my heart.  Even though our future is in limbo right now, I'm learning to be content... regardless of the outcome.  Honestly.

This must be what the apostle Paul felt when he spoke of learning to be content in whatever state you are in. {Phillipians 4:11-13}  It truly is a 'learned' lesson.  One that I have to learn consistently with each life-changing experience.
Jasmine found her place of contentment. :)

How can I learn to be {truly} content?
I believe it's found in recognizing the {true} value of things.  For me, it's family and faith.  Everything else is material.

It has been said far too often {although, not always}, what we are working toward is not what we will want if we arrive.

Checking off a to-do list, yet not hugging my babies enough?
Working from dawn till dusk {I typed duck},
yet not sharing in family memories?
An unhealthy desire to fill your home with 'stuff', yet not laughter?
Having a clean house, yet not making room for creativity?
Listening to music, but never dancing?

I have what's truly important.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm trading my heavy heart for dancin'!

"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way." - Wayne Dyer

  9. This has been in my heart~ Stuff it can not breath, love or follow our Lord. It is just stuff that puts stress in our life. You have to house this stuff, care for it and make it part of your life. Man that sounds like too much for me. I have been gutting out the house. I cant get rid of enough... It feels great. I can now think about the life around me. Not making room for our stuff. Being content. My husband has been talking about this in the past year or so. Im working on it. Content at all times. Great post!
