again... this was the week the ny giants won the superbowl. yay!
wait. football takes priority in a post? i know. i barely know who i am anymore.
if you follow us on instagram, this will be rather redundant. my apologies.
grapefruit + stevia = yummm. i only bring exciting stuff to the blog. yo.

kiddos sucked into the abyss of old home movies and pictures = sweet nostalgia.
gracie borrowed my shirt. it has begun.
daddy was out of town, so i took our girls on a dinner date, after a day at the zoo {also dance lesson and taking headshots for several kids at theater that day, too}. the person in charge of my schedule needs a good ol' fashion talkin' to. *ehem*
gracie performed competition dances at the local high school. gracie has a wonderful, supportive sister in nator. everyone needs a nator in their family.
the girls made posters for the upcoming dance competition. then we forgot them. oh well. there will be another.
meeting sweet friends at the zoo. {tip: when a park employee asks to take your picture, tell him he can... so long as he snaps one with your camera, as well. it works most times.} and ummm... they really should clean the glass on these enclosures. clean glass = better pictures. it's all about the pictures, right? ;)
so great seeing things we are currently learning. turtles. have you ever noticed the backbone inside the turtle's shell? fascinating. we stopped short of holding the live tarantula. *shivers*
bracing ourselves. competition season is here!! leaving at the crack of... too early. see the excitement on my face? walking between prepping for the next performance {the dressing room is like an episode of dance moms. #helpme} and watching them. all day. thank heaven for a supportive hubby and cheerleader sister to help soothe the day.
we're only allowed pix backstage... not on. so these are, of course, bought. this is gracie's passion. can you tell? it's why we do what we do.
confession: albeit crazy, i succumbed to putting false eyelashes on my 10 yo.
tip: they really do last longer than simple mascara. her eyelashes looked stage-ready from sun up till sun down!
less makeup to apply. it's a win-win. besides, they were embellished with bling. it was love at first sight.
what indulgence have you succumbed to... only to find that it was the best thing since sliced bread? really. it would make me feel better. ;)
Thank you so much for NOT holding and photographing the tarantula!!! I don't even like looking at spiders!
ReplyDeletebusy week for sure. LOVE the pics of the competitions..what talent!
thanks, sara. ;)
DeleteWow, Gracie looks so happy dancing!! She has a great stage presence.
ReplyDeleteMy girls have not found their passion. I am waiting...
thanks, theresa. and no worries... sometimes, i think i'm still waiting for mine. ;)
Deleteum I bought the expensive spanky panties for Emi's gym uniform and as a teenage who had friends who "cheered" I was not one of those girls and vowed not to be --so it was a hard one for me. But alas it did make her MORE appropiate-- or as appropiate as you can get in a leotard. :0)
ReplyDeleteI say the lashes are "innocent" in that world, right!
thanks for making me feel better, carrie. ;) our kids in leotards - sure. me in a leotard? very inappropriate. ha!!
DeleteShe looks like she absolutely loves what she does--that is so great!
ReplyDeletethanks, lisa. ;)
DeleteThe lashes are innocent. EONS away from spray on tans and flippers and wigs and....:) but I would like to see the backstage area. I love a good reality show. :)
ReplyDeletegirl, i feel like a foreigner in another land in that dressing room. territorial, inconsiderate mamas. oi. i'm sooo not a toddlers & tiaras stage mom. ha!
DeleteThose dance pictures were amazing!! I wish Sassy could be able to do that, but her legs don't allow it. :( But I'll live that fantasy through you, k? :)
ReplyDeletethat's okay... our legs don't allow for things many kids are doing. we are giving roller skating another whirl today... may the force be with my girlies! ;)
DeleteGracie definitely looks really happy doing what she loves. My 10 year old niece is into competitive cheer - she would live at the gym if her mother let her :)
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE the dance pics! Such long legs!!
ReplyDeleteDavan did a few dance competitions last year and I have to say that, while I'd love to see her still dance (it's just not fitting into her already overloaded schedule), actually enduring the dance competitions is something I certainly don't miss! The dressing room drama - yikes!
ReplyDeleteAnd at her studio all girls who were level 3 and up were required to wear false eyelashes. It was my first experience with them. I was in a bit of panic the first time I had to put them on her. Having a kiddo who hates things coming at her eyes did not make that easier!
A girl's passion is a wonderful thing to see, though, and makes the whole competition day ordeal so worth it, no? Good for Nador, being the supportive sister.
so much fun!!! wow :) their costumes look so fun! and what a great trip to the zoo :)
ReplyDeleteThat photo with the turtle shell is fabulous!
