Project 365 - Week 29

Things have been quite busy around here.  Keeping up with schoolwork, as well as summer activities, is taking its toll on the blog.  Two posts a week?  Oi.  I hope to jump back in the swing of things soon!

Here's a peek at some of the things we've been up to....

Sunday

DK laughs at me for taking so many pictures, but I know one day he'll be thankful I was ready with my every handy iPhone for this pic. ;)

I'm not sure why we keep torturing ourselves by window-shopping products we can't afford.  Clearly, we should budget for an iPad because the educational games alone could save me tons.  ;)

We 'did' take the girls to see the movie, Despicable Me.  It was a lil' better than DK and I expected.

Monday

I started my day with this greeting.  Lego flowers!  Sweet Nator.

Gracie started her very first taste of hip-hop class.  She's ready to give it a 'go' in the fall. I have a feeling the mom-wagon will be busy this year.

Tuesday

After ballet, the girls and I dove into our very first watermelon.  Oh my!  It didn't last long.

Wednesday

My sweet girl made an electromagnet in science class today.

This is where you will find Gracie riding during most of our shopping trips... unless we are in the toy aisles.  Nator decided she wanted the task of driving, so Mama was hands-free for a little while.  Too cute, yes? ;)

During dinner {after jazz class}, Gracie made up her own 'honk language'.  When Nator tried to speak it, Gracie couldn't understand what she was saying.  I told Gracie to say, "No habla honk."  It was funny... Guess it was one of those 'had to be there' kinda moments.

Thursday

On the way to meet friends at the pool, there was a lot of traffic due to lunch rush-hour.  Gracie said, "We need an angry face for our car."  You know, like Mr. Potato Head.  Crack. me. up.  It was hot and there were mosquitoes {which explains the expression on Gracie's face}.  A lot of band-aids followed, but they had a great time.

Today, we had one of many conversations about how nobody is perfect... not even Mommy or Daddy.  Nator immediately said, "You may not be perfect, but you are the perfect mommy for me."  Melt. my. heart.

While watching TV...
Gracie:  Am I meat?
Me:  Well, we call it muscle.  So, yes, I guess you could call muscles meat.  You know, you're eating muscles when you eat animals.
Nator:  If you were dead, you'd be 'dead meat'.

Conversations with an 8 and 10 yr old are often more entertaining than anything on TV.

Friday

The before...  Before I knew there would be an 'after'.

I {finally} loaded up all of our recyclables and donation items that had been accumulating.  Gracie helped me load everything, which totaled about 9 large city bags. {Don't judge my fancy photoshop job on the city bags. Ha!}

There was no room for Jasmine to take her rightful place in the passenger seat.  She must have wondered if, in fact, she really was a dog.

Did I mention that the thermometer read 103, AND the A/C wasn't running to speed in my mom-wagon?  So, with windows down, I dropped off donation items, and then drove across our little town where the recyclable bins were.  Only... they were gone!  An address was posted, so I punched it into my GPS.  I was determined that my {now sweat-drenched} clothes would not be in vain!

I reached my destination, only to discover a sign that may have said that residential recycle drop-off was for Saturdays only.  I decided to interpret the open gate as an invitation, in hopes that there would be an exit. Surely, the idea is to conserve energy.  Just think of all the gas burned in finding this place again.

The after.
I am beyond a 'feminine shimmer'.  Hair and clothes are soaked. with. sweat.  Attractive, I know.  Believe me, it is a good thing we were only going home after this.  Thankfully, the girls had their new American Girl catalog to drive mama crazy entertain themselves with.

Gotta love Texas heat.
Okay, maybe not the heat, but you gotta love Texas. :)

Saturday

We took the girls to a friend's sweet birthday party.  It was really sweet.  The sugary kind.  Their appetite was ruined... right before dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.  Sad, huh?

  2. I love to blog (and read blogs) but for some reason it has taken a back seat...sigh. I love your week in pics and your girls are just darling. I have some donating to do, but not in the mood to do just what you did. Boy do we love our watermelon too, that pic is sending me over the edge.

    Have a great week.

  3. Yeah. I'm drooling over the IPad, too. Have you seen the e-books on them? Soooo cool! Puts Kindle to shame IMO.

Lego flowers are really cute!! Who knew?

Oh, how I love watermelon. Love. it.

So sorry about your recycle drop-off ordeal. I DO know the feeling, though. Arkansas heat is atrocious!!!

    Yum. Cheesecake Factory.

  7. Fun week!
I love the lego flowers! I'm thinking we're going to have to get some for sure now if it'll score me a bouquet!
I-pad...crazy how our four year olds can just waltz into the Apple store and command that little pad to become a race car in just two seconds! Cloe actually gets to have one at school this year! I think I want to go back to second grade!
Hope this week finds you with more yummy watermelon and fun times!

  8. I think it's funny that DK is hiding behind the chalk!
Isn't technology amazing?! I am more amazed that your girls can go window shopping, even hold said merchandise and then leave it behind. I would never hear the end of the "how badly they need it"! :)
    Love Nator's flowers and electromagnet.
Maybe there would be less road rage is Gracie's "face system" on cars was implemented!
You poor thing with your recycle trip! I am assuming by the empty after picture, that you indeed were able to unload. I send you 3 cheers and a hug for enduring, posting a sweaty, yet still pretty, picture of you and being a great mom! Have a super week!!
