Bayou Life, Family & the 30x5

I can't believe it. We travel all the way to the swamps of Louisiana and my mother-in-law has us eating leftovers. Let's expand our menu please, Granny?!

TOTALLY kidding!! She joked a few times about me posting that on my blog, so you knew I had to, right? My mother-in-law is a wonderful cook. I enjoy everything she makes... more than my fair share at times. She taught me how to make roux for my gumbos and the best homemade bread. How can I complain? I even hesitate to put "in-law" at the end of mother because she has been so good to me over the years. She's practically watched me grow up (still growing) and has loved me through it all. Love you Mom!! My girls couldn't have handpicked a better Granny. We had a great time!

Yep, this is me. In all of my glory (or lack thereof) first thing in the morning without my Spackle. You can thank me for at least wearing my sunglasses. While at Granny's house, I was still committed to the 30x5 with my power-walking partner, Jasmine, in tow. She loves these walks. You don't see road kill like this where we live.

It's on these walks, that I have quiet time (well, as long as I dodge the cars and avoid going at the same time as the garbage truck) to reflect and think while soaking in the warm humidity. Seriously, my hair is like a sponge in this humidity. Wow. I've come a long way since the time DK and I used to live here. My thoughts, feelings, and perspectives have traveled places I would have never agreed to years ago. Maybe I'll save some of those reflections for another post. I just don't want to lose any of you while I'm building these blog buddy relationships. ;)

I'm really not sure what this sound is that is coming out of A-Nator at the start of this video?! :) This is a mild game of Apples to Apples Jr. with the girls. Watch how Gracie struts her stuff. She's a ham... not sure where that comes from? ;) This is just a glimpse into our everyday life.

On the way home, Gracie asks if she can play a game on my cell phone. This is what I find instead... Once again, the cell phone tells on her. :)
