our festivities looked a lil' bit like this...
cookies {oatmeal chocolate chip, to be exact} were made for christmas-light-ridin' and santa.
it's all fun and games till gracie takes a pic of mom, playing with the new lens. 50mm. lovin' it! the lens, not the pic. no make-up and a 3 second bun are musts for cooking, yes? ...yes?
keepin' it real. you're welcome.
the important thing is that they were proud of their creations.
santa realized santa wouldn't be able to unload someone's christmas
present and have it wrapped under the tree before picking up a certain
someone from the airport. who could? i mean... when two muscle men had to grunt while loading it in the sleigh. wowzers.
a certain someone was texted {that's a word, right?} to say merry christmas... and
hoped a certain someone and their boss didn't have much luggage to add
to the vehicle.
a sibling christmas eve gift exchange is a much anticipated tradition. nator received the 3 in 1 cabin legos. gracie, a stuffed pinkie pie... which resulted in a happy-hug-tackle. chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast may need to become a yearly tradition.
the girls gasped with excitement at their much coveted {and retired} american girl dolls. nator received samantha and kirsten {thanks to mama finding a few great deals on ebay over the summer}, and gracie received felicity and elizabeth.
we cleared away {most of} the mess and started our road-trip.
arriving at granny's, just in time to share christmas evening with 19 total. roger that. then we met the rest of the fam further down the bayou.
a little time with family...
distance makes it a challenge to stay close. sometimes, i really don't like that part... but the kiddos warmed up to each other again, just fine.
before we left louisiana, we watched brees set a new record. woot. {if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right? i'm starting to get into this football thing. maybe.} gracie's favorite part was watching granny get excited, raising her voice {kicking a leg or two} at the action on tv. granny loves football. just a little. ;)
i'm signing out of this novel now. maybe by the time february rolls around, i'll have you up to date with january. and christmas decorations will be down. one can hope.
Looks like a great Christmas for you. BTW, you look great even with a your hair up and no makeup. :D
ReplyDeleteOh, your girls do the happy {almost choke-hold} hug, too!?! My boys exchanged the same treatment Christmas morning upon opening up their Xbox360/Kinect...it was priceless!;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had a great Christmas, and hoping and equally great start to the New Year!:D
Ha! I should look so good with no make up and my hair in a bun. You rock it GF! Great finds on ebay for the girlies. Love those dolls. Looks like a great time was had by all. New year blessings to you and your sweet family. SusanD
ReplyDeleteLOVE the 3 minute bun - that really needed to be documented :)
ReplyDeleteI always wanted one of those tool boxes. Not that I have a need for it, but all those cool drawers & it's RED. Ah well, maybe someday. Heh.
Happy New Year to you & yours!
We traveled to Florida to visit my sister and her fam this year for Christmas, so I am leaving my own decorations up just a tad longer 'cause I don't feel like I've seen them for long enough!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you guys had a good Christmas! Our traditional Christmas breakfast is cinnamon rolls and heaven forbid if someone tries to mess with that!
Yay for a new camera lens!
Looks like a super holiday indeed!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Whatever your family does it always seems like you have so much fun!! I love all of your photos. always. and I adore your writing style.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that you live so far from family, but you are so lucky to have such a big family--we live close to family but we have a small family..just me and my brother, my parents, aunt, uncle and grandma.
I have a question about the 50mm...do you have a 35 mm too? We have the 50 and Jason wants to get the 35 but I don't know if we need it if we have the 50...any thoughts?
Looks like a great Christmas! Love all the pictures and you are still gorgeous sans makeup and with the 3 second bun.
ReplyDeleteGood deal on the American Girl dolls. Kei has Samantha and Kirsten. Don't you love that our girls still love dolls? I do.
Love that you spent some time with family in the bayou. ;)
Looks like a wonderful time was had by all.
I always always love looking at all of your pictures and getting a glimpse into your fun. This Christmas post is no exception!
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas decorations are still up - I may just keep 'em there for a while yet!
I got my husband a big toolbox/workbench for Christmas too! I had it delivered the day after Christmas but I put a bow around a hammer and wrapped a picture of the gift around the handle. He is is like a little boy out there organizing his stuff!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I'm still posting Christmas so I totally understand. :) loved your pics!
ReplyDeleteYou are rockin' the no makeup 3 second bun look! You pull it off much better than I do :) Looks like a wonderful Christmas celebration!
