if your children are not the ride-ridin' type, an amusement park is a must-stop when you go on a lil' family vacay. make sense, no?
at least there's the water-gun-shootin'-game-thingy. winners and non-winners win a cape. super powers might be attached. it's a win-win.
there's the car that runs on a track. employees still have to check for fastened seat-belts when these lil' minors are driving. safety first.
and these famous looney tunes. gracie's favorite part. gracie gave bugs bunny the 'call-me' hand signal. he returned the signal to her... then gave me the 'call-me' hand signal.
and that was the day hubs almost knocked bugs bunny out. we kid. maybe.
nator drove her first car. no guidance from a track. just railings. of which she only bumped into once, while looking up for me. not bad for a first drive, right? gracie was happy riding as daddy's co-pilot.
nator wanted to upgrade from the beloved 'shamu express' at sea world and try a moderate ride at fiesta texas. she chose the large rocking boat. during which, she vowed not to ever try again and determined rides were not in her dna.
i seem to be the only willing-coaster-rider {well, so long as it doesn't spin side-ways} in my family, yet i don't have a riding partner. truthfully, the older i get, the less attractive they look. the rockin' boat almost did me in when i looked sideways at hubs and gracie below.
the ferris wheel, the one ride the girlies will ride, is about our speed. so long as the girls don't look down.
okay. secret's out. i married a pirate and gave birth to a neon-colored-wanna-be hippie.
gift shops... and the traditional lighting of christmas tree, being ushered in by carolers {who are not afraid to sing about jesus}, fireworks, and looney tunes? those are always welcome. and fun.
but a night-cap at the macaroni grill? yum. mo.
i suggested skipping the amusement park next time since we don't do rides. gracie said, "but moooom, the looney tunes show!"
so... is coaster-riding in your dna? ;)

The bigger the better! Totally in my DNA. This year along with the thrills and frills of roller coasters we also did some zip lining! Must be the difference of having boys vs girls.
ReplyDeletezip lining is on my bucket list! fun!
ReplyDeleteOh that cape is just fantastic!!! lol
ReplyDeleteThe kids and I love rides and roller coasters, the husband unfortunately needs to be persuaded most of the time. :)
My girls are not ride-riders either. I like the spinning rides and Jason likes the roller coasters, but the girls are really very cautious about all of it. We went to Busch Gardens last year and it was kind of a bust as the girls hardly went on any rides.
ReplyDeleteRoller coasters are NOT in my DNA and once husband accepted this fact, our marriage went much more smoothly. (After all, Astroworld was still open when we were dating and first married.)
ReplyDeleteNot so much. Keilee loves 'em though so I try to suck it up every now and then. I WANT THAT CAPE!! That is awesome. I love the Bug's Bunny story, I can just 'see' that happening. LOLOL. And Kei would love the hat Gracie has on.
ReplyDeleteI need to email you Kei's text number so she can text with your girlies. They can talk about all things DRAMATIC. ;)
We went to Disney in 2000, OS was 11. Every time we got in a line, he would ask if it was roller coaster. this is the same son that now white water rafts, snowboards, skateboards, camps, hikes, etc. I can take roller coasters unless my feet are dangling. I have to have my feet PLANTED.
ReplyDeleteNot mine, but my kids like it alright. They are just now getting to the age of being able to ride, but my girl is totally gonna be a fan. My son, well, he has height aversion, so if you have to climb a ladder to get there it's a big no. And if it goes too high, he might say no too. But he's kinda been warming up the last few times, I think primarily due to the fact that his younger sister shows no fear. That can really get to a guy, ya know?
ReplyDeleteZip lining is quite fun. I'm amazed I did it. But rollar coasters make me sick. Explain that!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh no. Rollercoasters are a mortal fear of mine. As in, I genuinely think there is a real chance I could die each time I ride one. When we were newlyweds, my husband took me on a kids' ride to try and get me warmed up for a bigger one: it was a pirate ship theme, and it swung like a pendulum. I screeeeeeeeeeeamed and screamed, and distinctly remember cracking my eyes just a bit to look across the way at a 6-year-old who clearly thought I was the biggest loser ever.
ReplyDeleteAnyway: If they grow to love rollercoasters, my children are lucky to have their dad :D
